We receive the Holy Spirit at baptism. This is the precious gift of God’s Love to us. God shows no favoritism but loves everyone unconditionally so that we can also follow his example to love others.
In today’s gospel, God wants us to keep his commandment “Love each other as I have loved you”. However, we know loving others is not always easy, but a Christlike love means forgiving and accepting even those who are different and difficult. Our ability to love others comes from God (1 John 4:7). We can only give love when Our hearts are full of God’s love. Let us continue to build a relationship with God by spending time in the Word of God (the Bible); praying and listening; worshiping God alone and with others; and giving our time and talents.
With a strong relationship with God, we can start by making small, lovely gestures, like being kind and patient to our families, relatives, co-workers, church community, and those around us. We pray for the grace of love to fill our hearts so that we can bear fruit that will last.
