John 18:33-37

In John 18:33-37, we witness a profound dialogue between Pilate and Jesus, where Pilate questions Jesus about His kingship. Pilate asks, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus responds by clarifying that His kingdom is not of this world. If it were, His followers would have fought to prevent His arrest. Jesus declares, “My kingdom is not from here.”

This passage invites us to reflect on the nature of Christ’s kingship. Jesus is not a worldly king who seeks power, wealth, or domination. Instead, His kingship is based on truth, love, and service. He reigns in the hearts of those who live according to His teachings and follow the way of love and humility.

In our lives, we are often tempted to prioritise worldly pursuits—power, status, and material success. Jesus reminds us that His kingdom is different. It calls us to be witnesses to the truth and to serve others, especially the marginalised and oppressed.

Pilate’s question, “What is truth?” challenges us to ask ourselves: Do we recognise Jesus as the ultimate truth? Are we living in a way that reflects His kingdom of love and justice? This passage invites us to follow Jesus, who leads us to a kingdom where love and truth reign supreme.

Love has always prevailed overpower, wealth or domination. My life has been a testimony for Love and how God’s love has saved and is continuously saving me on a daily basis.
