Theme – The Family of God

Today’s Gospel reading on “Marriage and Divorce” is not only on earthly marriage but also on our marital covenant with God and our love of others. The marriage bond Jesus speaks here is to reveal to us the depth of commitment that God has made to each one of us and the reciprocal commitment He invites us to make. We need to understand God’s covenant offered to us is freely given, total, and irrevocable. God will never change His mind when it comes to the commitment He has made to each one of us. For us, we must continuously seek to reciprocate that commitment by giving ourselves to the will of God in the same way.

God has offered to us this pure and holy nature of the love of God. Therefore, we must recommit ourselves to offer this same depth of love to God and to others so that the covenants that result from our love will always endure. Pray to our Father to help us to love Him with this same depth of love so that we can share in the divine marriage covenant to which we are called. May this holy love also overflow into every relationship so that our Father will be the foundation of those holy bonds.

The Liturgical colour theme is green in Ordinary Time with green, white, and red.

Green symbolizes spiritual growth in Christ, nurtured by the Church and the Gospel. Green represents new life, anticipation, new beginning, praise, flourishing healing, restoration, and hope. White symbolizes pure faith that listens to God’s voice and believes. Red symbolizes atonement, sacrifice, love, courage, strength, and the burning fervor of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, who guides the children on their way to the Father.
