Theme – Christ, the Son of Man
Today’s Gospel reading on “The Greatness in the Kingdom” is about the desires that we all have for greatness which is a good and natural desire. Due to original sin, every good and natural desire is disordered. Hence, the desire we have for greatness can become an obsession, a cause of discouragement when we fail. A source of jealousy when others appear to do better, leading us to pursue empty and fleeting goals in life.
We need to thank God for the natural desire for greatness that has been instilled within our own soul. And to pray that this desire within our own soul for greatness will not fall into selfishness or lead us to see others as competitors. Instead, to pray that our desire for greatness will lead us to holiness so that we will be able to store up for ourselves the abundant treasures in Heaven and radiate that glory forever.
The Liturgical colour theme is green in Ordinary Time with green, white, blue and yellow/gold.
Green symbolizes spiritual growth in Christ, nurtured by the Church and the Gospel. Green represents new life, anticipation, new beginning, praise, flourishing healing, restoration, and hope. White symbolizes pure faith that listens to God’s voice and believes. Blue symbolizes Holiness, God with us, His presence God the Father. Yellow/gold symbolizes spiritual growth, life, wealth, glory majesty, kingdom of God enlightenment and light.
