The Catechumenate period begins formally with the Rite of Acceptance. In this Rite, inquirers (those who have not been baptised) and candidates (baptised Christians seeking full communion with the Catholic church) publicly express their intention to follow Christ and receive instruction from His Word within our church community. It is a bold new step in faith, indicating a genuine interest and curiosity in God, along with the desire to learn more about Him. The Rite of Acceptance took place on January 7, 2023, with 12 inquirers and 2 candidates in attendance. As part of the Rite, they received the sign of the cross on different parts of their body to symbolise their devotion to Christ. The evening was capped off with a magnificent Nasi Ambeng feast lovingly prepared by our parishioner Clare!
A Bold New Step in Faith!
Encouraging our RCIA catechumens and candidates as they take a bold new step in faith!
The current RCIA process, known as Cephas, began on the 1st of September last year. After a few months of inquiring and exploring about our faith, the inquirers were invited to the next phase of the process – the Catechumenate period.
With the Rite of Acceptance, the RCIA enters into the Catechumenate period, where catechumens deepen their knowledge and practice of the faith through sessions, ministry attachments, scrutinies, the breaking of the Word, and other activities that will immerse them in our community and the life of the church. To quote one of our catechumens, Cindy, the “Rite of Acceptance is like making a 1st commitment into the world of Christ to seek God and live the word of God!” Amen and Praise the Lord!
Please continue to keep our catechumens and candidates in your prayers, as we look forward to the day when we can welcome them as brothers and sisters in Christ.
