On July 7, 1991, the parishioners of the Church of St. Michael attended the Eucharistic Celebration in the old church building for the last time. In the last week of July 1991, it was demolished to make way for the new building.
The current building of the Church of St. Michael officially opened on 2 May 1994, after renovation works with the Eucharistic Celebrations held in a tent where the carpark was. Though simple and practical in design, it presented with a dignified facade and is indeed a fitting place to worship God.
The interior of the Church is spacious, airy and bright. This ambience is enhanced by fourteen beautiful panels of Italian stained glass depicting the Stations of the Cross adorning the sides. Four more panels of stained glass showing the Divine Mercy, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and St. Michael the Archangel, are mounted on the pitched roof and from dawn till before the sun sets, the interior of the church is transformed into a spectrum of subdued rainbow hues. While the Italian engineer was on hand, parishioners John Goh and Paul Lam were also enlisted to help install the stained glass panels of the Holy Spirit, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, the Divine Mercy, St. Michael, the four Gospel Writers, and the abstract panels behind the Crucifix.
The altar, pulpit, and baptismal fount were designed and made by the late Br. Joseph McNally from the Lasallian Brothers. The altar showcases the wings of angels and the three triangular designs at the base represent the archangels, Sts. Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel.
A breath-taking landscaped waterfall, with a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus standing with out-stretched arms, cascades from one side of the church into an internal courtyard and this serves as an ideal venue for parishioners to have fellow-ship. There are additional classrooms on the ground level and another unique feature is a columbarium located in the basement of the church.
