20th Apr – Easter Sunday – Flower Arrangement, Theme – Jesus our Risen Lord
1st Reading: Acts 10:34a,37-43, 2nd Reading: Colossians 3:1-4, Gospel: John 20:1-9
In today Gospel’s reading we read of the “Empty Tomb”. The disciples did not believe what the women had said, and even those who were present at the tomb were surprise. This is evident by the initial reactions of Mary of Magdala, Peter and John. Mary thought that someone had taken the body of Jesus and moved it from the tomb. Peter was confused and ran to see for himself. John also went and when he saw the empty tomb, he believed.
Today the Resurrection of Christ is clearly known to us. As such, our knowledge of this glorious event must continually deepen. It an event that transcends time, permeates all time, and transforms every moment of our lives.
Jesus rose from the dead opening the gate of Heaven to all who believe and would receive the gift of salvation. This Jubilee Year proclaims that God our Father opens new ways every time to all the people to encounter him in new and powerful ways. When we witness mercy, hope, love, and forgiveness, this is Easter overcoming spiritual death! We must not overestimate our darkness and keep our faith in God, who is always greater. We must always allow God our Father to open our hearts to a new way so that we can depart from our own “empty tombs”, and embrace the love we thought we had lost.
The Liturgical colour theme is white for Eastertide and we have used the colours white, pastel pink, blue, yellow, and green in our flower arrangements this week.
