In Luke’s account, we witness the events of the Last Supper, where Jesus institutes the
Eucharist, offering his body and blood as a sacrifice for our sins. This profound act of self-giving
love forms the very heart of the Christian faith.

Despite knowing that he would soon face betrayal and ultimately sacrifice his life, Jesus
remained obedient to God’s will. He prayed for strength to endure the suffering that awaited
him, setting an example of unwavering faith and trust in God.

Jesus was betrayed by Judas and arrested, subjected to unjust trials, and mocked, suffering
humiliation and ultimately crucifixion, a punishment reserved for the worst of criminals.
This narrative emphasizes Jesus; humility and selflessness in giving up his divine privileges to
redeem our sins. It offers a powerful message of hope and redemption for all who believe in
him, showcasing his love and obedience to God’s will, even in the face of great suffering.
As we reflect on these events, we are invited to consider our own willingness to trust and obey
God, even in times of difficulty and injustice. We are encouraged to embrace humility and self-
giving love, imitating Christ.
