Luke 1:39-45
The Fourth Sunday of Advent is a time to look forward to Christmas which means a closer look at the birth of Jesus. Ponder how he was born and where he was born. The king in a stable. The Lord of Lords born in such lowly environment. This birth invites us to reflect on important matters such as God’s promise, the importance of humble beginnings, obedience to God’s will, and recognizing Jesus in our lives. Reflecting on these readings helps prepare our hearts for the joy of Christmas.
Recognizing Jesus in our daily lives right now is the beginning of the realization of the birth of Jesus in our real world and time. This realization should make us aware of the lengths that our Father went to save us and we should be thankful of all the small graces we have received, be humble and obedient to His will. Let us not belittle that greatness stems from humble beginnings, trusting that God has a plan for us.
This Christmas, let us open our hearts to these lessons, spread the love and joy to those around us, lead and inspire others to live them daily.
