The reading of this weekend invites us to dwell in the joy of the expected coming of our Saviour. The expected coming is very near as when John the Baptist preached the people were so moved that they thought the Messiah was coming soon.
We rejoice a little bit as we are aware that we are soon going to celebrate the birth of our Lord. This celebration fills us with anticipation and fills us with expectation of the imminent coming of our Lord.
In our rejoicing, we are told to sing with joy; to repent of our wrong doings and to change the way we live our lives. How do we sing for joy in our troubled world? The second reading tells us that we can ask our Father for what we need to walk with Him. We must ask for what we need and not the usual way of asking for what we want.
To wait on the Lord is to wait with faith and patience.
