Faith is a gift that must be unpacked through actions that reveal the gift. Faith is the ability to act when there are no logical facts supporting the action. This is supernatural in the sense that it is not normal. One cannot take this step unless one is given Grace by God to do so. This gift is further strengthened, with a steadfast belief in how faith empowers confidence in the self. Our gifts can only benefit someone else, when we have confidence in the knowledge that the Lord God has supplied all that we need for our mission, so as allow us to carry out the task that the Lord God has envisioned for us in the best possible way.

To walk in faith is to give the gift of faith to someone else. We are invited to have the faith that our lives have meaning and purpose, and that God has gifted us a unique mission that only we with our special combination of gifts can achieve. Even if we lack faith in our capabilities to bring a mission to fruition, we need to recall who is it that is the commander of the mission. God our Father has oversight of tomorrow and the permutations that would lead to the success of the mission. This peace comes from the very gift of His revelation to us about Himself from Him. Even if we are faithless, He is faithful.

To act in faith, is to acknowledge the presence of someone or something that is beyond our understanding or grasp. Even our everyday living is an act of faith, but we are often unaware of the fact of taking action in faith because we have become used to it and it doesn’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary. Will our faith in God our Father every day become normal in the sense that we are used to trusting in Him that we know he will not let us down, to become the kind of conviction that St. Paul had?

The encounter with any person in the Trinity, should move us to have this faith. The apostles had this encounter and though they had their struggles, they eventually overcame them to stand for the Lord and to profess their unshakeable faith in Him.

The Gospel today, presents us with the Transfiguration. We are called to have the level of Faith that Moses had. He had asked to see the Face of God, but God only permitted him to see his back as He passed by, and today in the Transfiguration, his request was finally being fulfilled at a time which he did not expect. He is standing beside God and can see the Face of God in Jesus.
