Luke 3:1-6
All the names mentioned in the Gospel – Pontius Pilate, Herod, Annas and Caiaphas- belong in the Passion of Christ. Ever wondered why do we hear them now before the Lord’s birth? This is to remind us the reason for our Lord’s birth: “Jesus Christ was born for our salvation through his obedience to our Father.” The winding road that Jesus Christ made straight is the path to obedience that ended for Him in Calvary. This Advent we can complete the good work He had started in us by embracing every sacrifice and to prepare us for the way to perfection, with confidence that “God will lead the way with joy in the light of his glory, with the righteousness and mercy that come from him.”
