The Liturgical colour theme is red in Ordinary Time. Our flower arrangements this week are composed of the colours with red, green, and white.
Gospel: Mathew 26:14-27:66
“And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was shaken and asked, “Who is this?” And the crowds replied, “This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee.””
In the Gospel reading Jesus entered Jerusalem, His mission and identity as the Messiah. Riding on a donkey, He embodies humility and peace, distinguishing Himself from earthly rulers. The crowds were joyful offering Him praise proclaiming Jesus as the King who comes in the name of the Lord, highlighting His divine authority and the hope He brings, setting the stage for the events of the Holy Week.
As we enter this Holy Week, we need to reflect and be aware — are we like the “multitude” of Jesus’ disciples who praised Him when it was easy and popular, or are we like our Blessed Mother and Saint John who remained faithful to Him even in His suffering when Jesus was crucified on the cross. We must persevere in our praise and adoration of God during our difficult times. Do not allow fear of rejection and other forms of humiliation to deter us from our sacred calling.
Like the crowd as they acclaim Jesus as King, We too should turn our eyes to Jesus the King whom we worship and choose to follow Him to His betrayal, His suffering, and His death. Always commit ourselves to fidelity, especially when it is hard to do so. We must not waver in our commitment. Always look at the love in the heart of Jesus’ own mother and pray to her that we will have the courage she had to remain faithful to our Lord.
