Theme – Christ, Our Wealth
In today’s Gospel reading, the story of ‘The Rich Man,’ is about how easy it is for a person to become attached to his early wealth, that he fails to obtain the riches of Heaven. Jesus spoke about greed and attachment, with not just material wealth, but any other form of attachment that are attached to sin, which destroy our soul and prevent us from entering the Kingdom of Heaven. If the love of God does not motivate us to turn from sin, hopefully the fear of hell will. As emphasized, the only way to enter the gates of the Kingdom of God is when we overcome our attachment, be wholeheartedly committed; a total surrender to the will of God our way of life.
The Liturgical colour theme is green in Ordinary Time with green, white, blue and yellow/gold.
Green symbolizes spiritual growth in Christ, nurtured by the Church and the Gospel. Green represents new life, anticipation, new beginning, praise, flourishing healing, restoration, and hope. White symbolizes pure faith that listens to God’s voice and believes. Blue symbolizes the light of the Trinity, Holiness, honour, dignity, His presence God the Father. Yellow/gold symbolizes spiritual growth, life, wealth, glory majesty, kingdom of God enlightenment and light.
