Mary treasured all these things in Her Heart
On the first Christmas night, Mary had visitors she did not expect. These were the lowly shepherds who proceeded to share with her the revelation that had been given to them by the angels. God our Father made the proclamation through the angels to the simple shepherds.
Even as she was joyful over the birth of Jesus, Mary must also have wondered what God was doing by allowing His Son, the Messiah, to be born in a manger instead of the well-prepared room in Nazareth, and before the hustle and bustle of the ongoing census. In all of these, Mary and Joseph are seen as docile to the ways of God our Father. There is no question on their lips even though they would not have comprehended the situation.
In our busy world we tend to look at things superficially and easily forget God’s many blessings. Each day, the invitation is to store these ‘treasures’ in our hearts and minds: as we try to get ahead on in life.
