Corpus Christi, is a celebration of the incarnation of our Lord and his abiding presence in our journey towards the Trinity. Corpus Christi would have no meaning if Jesus had not become the invisible Trinity made visible. To see Jesus is to see the Father and the Holy Spirit who issues from the Father and the Son. The Body of Christ is the food that we are given for our journey to the Kingdom of God – the Promised Land. In this we remember the Jews making their way from Egypt to the promised land – Israel and on this journey how they were fed with manna. Whilst the people who ate the bread that had appeared to them in the morning, Jesus is the Bread that has come down from heaven and we are reminded that whoever eats this bread will live forever, Jn 6:51.

We celebrate this solemnity; we celebrate the community that gathers around the Bread of heaven. The community is made in the presence of the living Lord, Jesus Christ. The community honours the living Lord when she solemnly worships the Lord. The procession with the Body of Christ, denotes us as willing to follow the Lord as our standard, holding to the emblem of Christ when we march into battle, the presence that we adhere to whilst travestying through this valley of differing opinions and beliefs. Jesus is the Way in the Eucharist. Jesus is the Truth in the scriptures. Jesus is light that enlightens our pilgrimage through the confusion of our lives.
