The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday and is meant to remind us of the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus, as well as the joy that the faithful have reached the midpoint of Advent.

The candle is pink for Joy.

We are 2 weeks away from the birth of Baby Jesus and some of us will be struggling with Christmas preparations but this is somewhat a different and challenging Christmas as we are still in Phase 2 and limited to 5 for dinning. Some are not able to meet up with families due to travel restrictions and all these inconveniences are causing a tollĀ  in our ability to feel Joy. However we are sharing this changing landscape of life together. Finding Joy in this changes can be easy and challenging.

There is joy in looking forward to the annual celebration of Christmas, but there is also joy in remembering the birth of Jesus on the first Christmas. There is joy in knowing that he was born to save us from our sins.

We look forward and let our heart pause with thankfulness and let Jesus be our rock and allow joy into our hearts. We can improvise by having zoom meet ups in groups and light the candle of Pink together and share a reflection of Joy.

The Joy of technology with Jesus in our hearts.
