St Michael’s “theatre” was full house last evening, this Saturday night! The film traces the rise of the band, Queen, through their iconic songs and reaching unparalleled success. But in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Father Terence explains from a spiritual point of view how we can draw parallels to our own lives and be alert. Wondering how you can watch a movie through the lens of a Catholic? Small Acts of Family Love That Is So Strongly Felt Indeed we never know what talents God gives to each of us until we put it to good use. Those who came and had a meal at the canteen on 24 Mar were pleasantly greeted by a beautiful backdrop that reminded us how Jesus sits amongst us, listening to our every conversation and waiting for us to invite Him to join in. Come, Holy Spirit! Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He commanded his apostles to “wait for the promise of the Father” in Jerusalem (Acts 1:4-5). Nine days later the apostles celebrated the Jewish feast of Pentecost, and God fulfilled his promise by sending the Holy Spirit. It was the first “novena.” In a unique way, we can imitate their example and join them in the Upper Room, waiting for the Advocate to come. We can prepare our hearts for the coming of the Holy Spirit and kindle a fire within us that God can set ablaze. How? Through prayer of course! And the Word of God gives us the very words we need. Saint Andrew Kim Taegon was the first Korean-born Catholic priest and is the patron saint of Korea. In the late 18th century. Kim's parents were converts and his father was subsequently martyred for practising Christianity, a prohibited activity in heavily Confucian Korea. After being baptized at age 15, Kim studied at a seminary in the Portuguese colony of Macau. He also spent time in study at Lolomboy, Bocaue, Bulacan, Philippines, where today he is also venerated. He was ordained a priest in Shanghai after nine years (1844) by the French bishop Jean-Joseph-Jean-Baptiste Ferréol. He then returned to Korea to preach and evangelize.
